Երբ ամերիկյան պետական պաշտոնյան հանդես է գալիս որպես էթնիկ թուրք քարոզիչ

Էթնիկ թուրք, ԱՄՆ–ի առողջապահական համակարգի բարձրաստիճան պաշտոնյա Mehmet Oz–ը , վերջին շաբաթներին արեց մի բան, որը ժողովրդավարական պետությունում չպետք է համարվի ընդունելի՝

նա առանց կոնկրետ ապացույցների, հրապարակային կերպով թիրախավորեց ամբողջ էթնիկ հայ համայնքը։

Oz–ը ոչ միայն խոսեց ենթադրյալ առողջապահական խարդախությունների մասին, այլ դրանք կապեց Լոս Անջելեսի հայ համայնքի հետ՝ օգտագործելով լեզու և պատկերներ, որոնք ավելի մոտ են քաղաքական քարոզչության, քան պետական վերահսկողության լեքսիկոնին։ Հայերեն ցուցանակներ, համայնքային թաղամաս, և ապա՝ «մաֆիայի» մասին ակնարկներ։ Փաստերի փոխարեն՝ ենթադրություններ։ Օրինական գործընթացների փոխարեն՝ տեսանյութ սոցիալական մեդիայի համար։

Սա պարզապես անպատասխանատու խոսք չէ։ Սա իշխանության դիրքից հնչող մեղադրանք է, որը չի ուղեկցվում ոչ անուններով, ոչ դատական գործերով, ոչ ապացույցներով։ Եվ հենց այստեղ է խնդիրը։

Oz–ը բժիշկ է, բայց այս դեպքում նա գործեց ոչ թե որպես բժշկի, այլ քաղաքական մանիպուլյատորի նման։ Նրա խոսքում նշվում էր ոչ այնքան խարդախության մասին , որքան էթնիկ պատկանելության։ Այդ մոտեցումը վտանգավոր է ցանկացած հասարակության համար, բայց հատկապես այնպիսի երկրում, որտեղ բազմազանությունը պետական արժեք է հռչակված։

Պետք է դա ասել ուղիղ․

Եթե Oz–ը իրականում ունի խարդախության ապացույցներ, դրանք պետք է ներկայացվեն դատարանում, ոչ թե տեսախցիկի առաջ։ Եթե կան կոնկրետ մեղադրյալներ, նրանք ունեն անուններ, ոչ թե լեզվական կամ մշակութային նշաններ։

Պետական պաշտոնյայի խոսքը կարող է լինել զենք։ Այս դեպքում այն օգտագործվեց ոչ թե հանցագործության դեմ, այլ հասարակական վստահության դեմ։

Եթե այսօր ընդունելի է համայնք մեղադրել ակնարկներով, վաղը դա կարող է վերածվել քաղաքական նորմի։ Ժողովրդավարությունները քայքայվում են ոչ միայն օրենքների խախտմամբ, այլ նաև այն պահին, երբ պետական խոսքը կորցնում է պատասխանատվությունը։

Dr. Oz–ը պարտավոր է պատասխան տալ ոչ միայն իր ասածների բովանդակության, այլ նաև այն վնասի համար, որը հասցվել է մի ամբողջ համայնքի հեղինակությանը։ Իսկ ԱՄՆ–ի ինստիտուտները պարտավոր են ցույց տալ, որ իշխանությունը չի կարող ազատորեն խաղալ էթնիկ ստիգմատիզացիայի հետ։ Ասել ես` ապացուցիր։

When a State Official Speaks Like a Propagandist

In recent weeks, Mehmet Oz, a senior U.S. government official overseeing key federal healthcare programs, crossed a line that should never be crossed in a democratic society:

he publicly targeted an entire ethnic community without presenting concrete evidence.

Under the pretext of combating healthcare fraud, Oz linked alleged wrongdoing to the Armenian community in Los Angeles, using language and imagery that resembled political propaganda rather than responsible public oversight. Armenian-language storefronts, a predominantly Armenian neighborhood, and then vague references to “mafia.” No names. No court cases. No documented proof. Just implication.

This was not a careless slip of the tongue. It was an accusation delivered from a position of power.

Oz is not a journalist, an activist, or a private commentator. He is a federal official whose words carry institutional weight. When such a figure replaces evidence with insinuation, the damage goes far beyond a single news cycle.

It must be stated plainly:

an ethnic Turkish official, long associated with politically sensitive positions, chose to single out the Armenian community through collective suspicion rather than individual accountability. Given the historical context of denial, stigmatization, and ethnic scapegoating faced by Armenians, this choice was neither neutral nor accidental in its impact.

If Oz possesses credible evidence of fraud, the proper venue is a courtroom—not a social media video. Criminal responsibility belongs to individuals, not to languages, neighborhoods, or cultural markers.

Instead of upholding the principles of due process, Oz resorted to a familiar and dangerous shortcut: turning ethnic identity into a proxy for guilt. That is not law enforcement. It is stigmatization.

This is why the episode matters beyond the United States. Democracies do not erode only through broken laws; they erode when officials normalize the idea that identity can justify suspicion. When state power begins to speak the language of “mafias” and “ethnic areas” rather than facts and indictments, it abandons the very standards it claims to defend.

Dr. Oz may be a physician by training, but in this case he acted as a political provocateur, undermining trust in public institutions and placing an entire community under an unwarranted cloud.

Silence in response to such conduct would amount to acceptance. Today it is Armenians. Tomorrow it could be any other community deemed convenient to blame.

This controversy is not about healthcare fraud.

It is about power, language, and accountability—and whether democratic institutions are willing to enforce the limits that protect pluralistic societies from collective suspicion.
