This week, High Commissioner for Diaspora Affairs Zareh Sinanyan established the Institute of Commissioners for Diaspora Affairs. The idea was adopted into law in Armenia's National Assembly, allowing for the appointment of Commissioners in various Diaspora communities. The Commissioners will be chosen by Zareh Sinanyan and appointed by the Prime Minister of the Republic of Armenia. They will serve on a voluntary basis without pay and decide their own work schedules. The Institute will create new opportunities for more direct and effective Diaspora-Armenia relations.
В Армении впервые будет внедрен институт главного уполномоченного по делам диаспоры. Главный уполномоченный по делам диаспоры Заре Синанян представил Национальному собранию Армении проект закона, который был принят во втором чтении. Теперь главный уполномоченный по делам диаспоры будет иметь представителей в общинах, которые будут назначены решением Премьер-министра Республики Армения и по предложению главного уполномоченного. Представители будут вести свою деятельность на общественных началах, то есть не будут иметь заработной платы и нормированного рабочего режима и часов. Внедрение этого института предоставит новые возможности взаимодействию Армения-Диаспора, сделав связи с общинами более оперативными и эффективными.A Short Film About the iGorts 2020 Program

During these difficult times, new Diaspora professionals continue to come to Armenia and work in the country's public sector. There are currently 48 professionals from 14 different countries working in 24 state institutions.

On a recent working trip to Armenia, California Senator Anthony Portantino officially presented and placed the seal of the California Trade and Services Desk at Impact Hub Yerevan. The California Trade and Services Desk will serve as a gateway for increased trade and business relations between Armenia and California. More information here.

Our Office will host "Repatriation Week" from Dec. 13-19 with both online and offline events. Each day will focus on a different Diaspora community and the topics/issues most relevant to that community in the language most spoken between them, including Western Armenian/Eastern Armenian, Spanish, French, English and Russian. Alongside our daily events, we will also curate a photo and video series throughout the week specific to each Diaspora community on social media, highlighting the diverse stories of repats in Armenia. Recently, our Office signed memorandums of cooperation with the heads of two influential tech companies in Armenia, one of the largest IT companies being Digitain, and SADA Systems. These memorandums of cooperation are aimed at discovering Diaspora Armenian talent and promoting innovation in the Armenian and international markets.
