Ամստերդամի Մատթեոս Ծարեցի հայկական գրադարանը համալրվել է բացառիկ պատմական գործով

 Ամստերդամի Մատթեոս Ծարեցի (Mateos Tsaretsi) հայկական գրադարանը համալրվել է բացառիկ պատմական գործով՝ Ժոզեֆ Պիտտոն դը Տուրնեֆորի (1656–1708) հեղինակած «Էջմիածին, երեք եկեղեցիներու քաղաք, եւ հեռանկարուած Արարատ լեռը» գծանկարով։

Հրաշալիորեն պահպանված այս պատմական պատկերազարդումը 17–18-րդ դարերի եվրոպական պատկերացումների արժեքավոր աղբյուր է Հայաստանի մասին։ Ֆրանսիացի ճանապարհորդ և բնագետ Ժոզեֆ Պիտտոն դը Տուրնեֆորը իր 1700–1702 թթ. գիտական շրջագայության ընթացքում այցելեց Էջմիածին, որտեղից բերին նաև այս գծանկարը՝ ներկայացնելով քաղաքը իր եկեղեցիներով և Արարատ լեռը՝ որպես հայկական ինքնության խորհրդանիշ։

Mateos Tsaretsi հայկական գրադարանը իր հավաքածուներում առանձնակի տեղ է տալիս այն նյութերին, որոնք ներկայացնում են Հայաստանի ընկալումը եվրոպական գիտական, մշակութային և պատմագրական միջավայրում։ Տուրնեֆորի ստեղծագործությունն այս համատեքստում բացառիկ արժեք ունի․ այն ոչ միայն արտացոլում է Էջմիածնի հոգևոր նշանակությունը, այլև վկայում է Արարատի խորհրդաբանական ներկայության մասին` այնպիսին, ինչպիսին այն երևում էր եվրոպացի դիտորդի աչքերով երեք դար առաջ։

Այս արժեքավոր աշխատանքի ներկայացումը հանրությանը ևս մեկ քայլ է դեպի հայկական մշակութային ժառանգության միջազգային ճանաչման համար։ Mateos Tsaretsi գրադարանը պլանավորում է գծանկարը ներառել նաև իր թեմատիկ ցուցադրություններում՝ հասանելի դարձնելով այն լայն հանրությանը։

«Նիդերլանդական օրագիր»

The Mateos Tsaretsi Armenian Library in Amsterdam has enriched its collection with a remarkable historical work—an illustration of “Etchmiadzin, the City of Three Churches, and Mount Ararat in the Background,” created by Joseph Pitton de Tournefort (1656–1708).

This exceptionally well-preserved illustration is an important source for understanding European perceptions of Armenia in the 17th–18th centuries. The French naturalist and traveler Joseph Pitton de Tournefort visited Etchmiadzin during his scientific tour of 1700–1702, from which he brought this drawing depicting the city with its churches and Mount Ararat—presented as a symbol of Armenian identity.

The Mateos Tsaretsi Armenian Library gives special importance to works that reflect how Armenia was perceived in the European scientific, cultural, and historiographical environment. In this context, Tournefort’s illustration holds exceptional value: it not only highlights the spiritual significance of Etchmiadzin but also documents the symbolic presence of Mount Ararat—as it appeared through the eyes of a European observer three centuries ago.

The presentation of this valuable work to the public is another step toward the international recognition of Armenian cultural heritage. The Mateos Tsaretsi Library plans to include the illustration in its thematic exhibitions, making it accessible to a wider audience.
